The math vs. your syllabus

The calculator applies standard weighted-average formulas and common US letter scales. Your school’s grading policy — drop rules, curves, replacement clauses, pass marks, extra credit — is defined by your instructor and institution. Where this site and your syllabus disagree, the syllabus wins. Always verify important results against your official gradebook and course policy.

Not academic advice

A required score is an arithmetic fact, not a recommendation. Decisions about studying, dropping a course, or academic standing belong to you and your advisors. Nothing on this site constitutes professional, academic or legal advice.

Inputs in, results out

Results depend entirely on the numbers you enter. The most common error — entering your average over total course points instead of graded points — produces dramatically wrong answers, and we can’t detect it for you. Double-check the inputs when the output looks surprising.
